Just found out some additional information about the STINSMEN "VELOCE" frameset I am offering for sale. The "REYNOLDS 531 SL" decal found on the frame may or may not be completely accurate.
John Stinsmen's record of the frame shows it as being built with True Temper tubing. When I told him about the presence of Reynolds 531 decal, and how it appears to have been on the frame for quite some time (looks like it was even clear-coated when the frame was originally painted). Mr. Stinsmen said that it is possible that he built the frame with a True Temper downtube and the balance of 531 due to the larger frame size. Per John, he commonly mixed tubesets according to the size of the frame and rider.
So this frame is either 100% True Temper tubing, or a mix of REYNOLDS 531 SL and True Temper???
Just wanted to clarify this for anyone interested in the frame.
