Note Peter that just below the derailleur clamp is another metal band, presumably the clamp or clip for the rear mudguard, so a generous guess about the "other silver color" could be that it is a protective sleeve of e.g. clear plastic to protect the seat tube from abrasion by mudguard and/or clip during use or removal.

And note Peter...er...other Peter...a recent thread in the CR list pertaining to braze-ons on Cinelli SC's with documentation provided by Bob Hovey. Corroborating and possibly narrowing his documentation, I recently saw an original condition SC and its original itemized bill of sale dated February 1974 that had braze-on cable guides, black campy pedals, no fork or stay chrome, just like the one on auction now. I did not take notice one way or the other about bottle braze-ons.

The lack of Cinelli decals on the downtube is...notable. Perhaps someone on the list can opine further about this as a potential custom request/variation? Again a recent thread on the CR list discussed wide observed variations both in frame numbers and in configurations of SC's from this era.

For example. Many road SC's in this time frame, certainly pre and also post '73, had fender eyelets front and rear. I recently saw a probable '70-'71 with no fender eyelets (also no brazed-on cable guides, and with half-chrome stays and forks that had hand-painted red lines at the boundaries of the chrome and the paint). Again, I'm sure there are Cinelli experts on the list and elsewhere who know all about this.

By the way, what happened to the Cinelli registry?
