Subject: [CR]Re: Crashing as a teen

My senior year in high school I went on a Sunday ride(you could close on Sunday in those days) with people that I worked with at my parents bike shop. The ride was on Morgan Territory road, the road that goes on the back side of Mount Diablo, a major landmark in the SF Bay Area. Everything was great until the desent toward Livermore, I went off the road into gravel, flipped in the air and came down hard, now remember this was in the day of "Hair Net Helmets" which I was not wearing. Now as I pick myself up, I am bleeding from massive road rash, since it was a wonderful chip sealed road surface. Can you feel my pain yet? So now I look at my beautiful Schwinn Paramount and see a dent and slight curve to the top tube, not a pretty sight. So this is were the fun starts.

I had to ride home!!! Here I am 30+ miles from the nearest family, no cell phones in those days and still bleeding. I made it back to my grandparents in Walnut Creek, repeated the story and had them take me home.

The next week was the biggest cross country meet of the year and I had to run. It was great when I took off my sweats and grossed out the runners from the other team. The race went well and I had the best race of the year.

We have a say to our customers, "Keep the rubber side down" road or mountain biking this works.
