Subject: [CR]Gillott Tandem history

Another question for the Brit time trial gurus' I have just bought a fancy lugged Gillott road/path tandem built in 1948. According to Harry Butler, who sold it to me, it was used by 2 brothers who went in for road records and time trials from '48 on, I guess. He can't remember their names. I would really like to find out who they were. They must have proved a fearsome sight as the frame is a double gents at 23 3/4'' front and back. On Airlite large flange hubs and sprints with a pair of flimsy Universals to brake with, it must have been like trying to stop an oil tanker. It has been modded at Claud Butlers (I can tell by the braze-ons) to take a derailleur and resprayed afterwards sometime in the early sixties at a guess. Hoping for an lead, Mark Stevens.
