i need to ship several pairs of (on-topic) rims. i only have a couple of boxes and i have to figure out how to get or make more boxes. before going out and finding a place to buy plain cardboard sheets, i thought i'd ask y'all for any alternative shipping suggestions.

has anyone shipped rims without putting them in a box? i think the post office will accept them, so it would just be a matter of wrapping them with protective material. any horror stories about this method?

if there is any other tip, technique or secret method that you can share with me, i will appreciate it.

thanks in advance

ray dobbins miami florida ------------------------------ Ray: The key is to keep the package dimensions under 84" girth plus length. There is a "balloon" surcharge that will kick in otherwise. Scott Davis (who may be in Japan right now) has some great rim boxes that were made by a box manufacturer near him, to specifically be 83-1/2" for just that reason. They are marked as such. I used one recently, and my local Post Office person saw that, and said "oh good, I don't have to measure it...." Using one of these special boxes, you can send a pair of rims via Priority Mail for about $12, depending on distance traveled (in the USA). The Manufacturer of the box is: Alliance Container 3800 50th Ave N Brooklyn Center, MN 55429 (763) 504-5210 Greg "boxster" Parker Ann Arbor, Michigan
