Hello Fred, I think I have posted something on Cinelli's built with Reynolds 531 butted main triangles before. Just in case you missed it yes they did. The earliest advert I have for Cinelli's built this way is February 1959 the Pista and Super Corsa both had Reynolds 531 butted tubed triangles but there forks and stays were in Columbus double butted tubing. Incidentally the Super Corsa was also available in a special English finish, this had fully chromed front forks with the Cinelli sloping crown (don't think the others had this only the English version), chrome rear ends and 4 chrome rings on the seat tube. This model back then came with standard or Simplex ends, Campag were extra. They also list a Corsa but no mention of the tubing used on this model. Why we are at it they list Cinelli mudguards as well in Corsa and Super Corsa types enamelled to match your frame colour with chrome centres and stays. No mention of any alloy stems or bars back then only steel. I think Cinelli went over to using full Columbus tubing in 1972 after Colnalgo got their Milan-San-Remo victory with Marzo Michele Dancelli and created the famous Asso di Fiori (Ace of Clubs) logo. Sure this Colnalgo was all Columbus and this is what made Cinelli change. The experts will Know. Will try and send you a scan of the advert if I can get my bleeding temperamental scanner to work!
