With barely concealed pride, I have the pleasure to announce the first Dutch Classic Racing Bike Show, to be held Sunday the 30th of October in Rotterdam. No doubt inspired by fine events like the Velo Rendezvous and Le Cirque de Cyclisme over on the other side of the Atlantic, Piet Schafthuizen initiate d the low countries version.
This is a first (as far as I know), and although we aimed for a low-key event, to see what it will evolve to, enthusiasm is great.
We expect that some 50 to 80 racing bikes will be displayed. I will name a few here: F.W. Evans 1939, Thanet Silverlight 1948, Philips 1955, Louison Bobet 1960, Verhoeven teambike 1965, Caballero teambike 1968, TI-Raleigh 75 3 teambike Leo van Vliet, Eddy Merckx C&A team trackbike, Eddy Merkcx Molteni teambike, Gazelle Frisol teambike. Various Cinelli's, De Rosa's, Colnago's, Rossin's, Gios's, Bianchi's, three Peugeot PX10's and even a Masi Gran Criterium 1973 (huh, only one Masi?).
Besides the bikes that are displayed there will be a modest parts swap. Interested? Mail me for more info. Not able to come? I'll post pics of the event in my wooljersey album. http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/Freeks-racefietsen
