I'll weigh in with another vote in favor of the crane's performance... I am currently running one on my '74 gran critter, in conjunction with a suntour ultra-6 freewheel. It shifts like cutting through soft butter-- far smoother than the original pat.73 nouvo record could ever hope to.

Another nice thing about them is that at least up 'till now they have been relatively inexpensive. I have picked up several nos short-cage cranes in the last few years in the range of ~$50.00 or so. Try doing that with nos campy nr/sr of the same period!
