You might be familiar with the '69 Masi Cronometer of Ken Denny's that is listed on the Masi Registry. It is unusual in that it has a number of reinforced piercings on each chainstay.

It looks like a newer example from the Alberto era has surfaced... a 1976 Masi Prestige Fiera. Photos can be seen at Speedbicycles.com in the museum section (I'd post a direct link but the site uses frames so...)

The yellow fill inside the holes looked a little rough which made me think that perhaps the stays had been filled with foam, but I've been told that after the stays are milled, the holes were filled with oval tubes which were then brazed in place and filed clean. Looks very timeconsuming, especially since each hole appears to be a different size.

Unlike the Cronometer which was a one-off TT bike, this Fiera is one of a group of three. The two bikes do have something in common however, besides the pierced chainstays, it seems Ken has bought this one as well, so it is now on its way to this side of the Atlantic to stand beside its progenitor.
