Hi everyone. I just joined here, so forgive me if I get a little verbose in this first post. First of all, my name is Jon, and I'm out here in Salinas, CA, and in Livermore on the weekends. I used to live near Trexlertown, PA and in the early 80's I rode a Schwinn Traveler, wishing I could afford a "real" bike like I'd see all the pros riding (the velodrome riders rode on alot of the back country roads I did).

My current daily ride is an '83 Eddy Merckx. Full Campagnolo with alot of pantographing. Seemed to be very original when I bought it (I changed a few things, but kept everything I changed out). I've had it for about 10 years now. It's a nice ride. Pics available: http://home.earthlink.net/~1983merckx/merckx1.jpg http://home.earthlink.net/~1983merckx/merckx2.jpg

I also recently purchased a mystery bike which I can not identify. I asked on bikeforums.net and got not much info other than it was italian, probably from the 60's, based on a few things like the rear dropout. If you look at the pics and can identify the frame/builder/whatever (maybe by the fork crown??), I'd really appreciate it. There are no remnants of old decals or painted on names. It's currently being paint-stripped in preparation for a new paint job. If I can find out the maker before I paint it, I'll paint in an original color to the maker. Here's a link to a folder with all the pics: http://home.earthlink.net/~1983merckx/mysterybike I'm slowly gathering older Campagnolo parts for this frame. The Shimano and Suntour parts that were on it are available if anyone needs them for a project. So are the SR (Japan made) pedals. Free, just pay me shipping.

One other thing I've been dealing with lately (unfortunately) is a ton of eBay scams. Over the past week, I seem to report about 10 to 20 per day. If you are curious about all that, you can search the bikeforums.net site for threads posted by "hazetguy". I hate scammers, and I hope nobody has been burned.

So thanks for letting me ramble.
