Thank you very much for the lead. Your posting alone has made joining this group worth while, as I stupidly gave away all my specialized tools twenty years ago, figuring I'd never work on a bicycle again.
Over the past five weeks I've discovered:
1. It only took me two weeks to get the legs back in shape, even in a hilly area using a 46/49 chainwheel, 14/28 freewheel. At this point, I find it had to believe that I've spent 28 years off a bicycle. Something worth doing before the morning coffee (the wife's in shock over that).
2. It only took me five minutes to realize that I hadn't forgotten much of anything I'd learned over seven years of working as a bicycle mechanic. Thank God! Well, we'll find out soon enough as soon as I get the parts to lace a new set of wheels.
3. I was REALLY dumb to give those tools away. Then again, they weren't much good working on a 650 Triumph cafe' racer.
Now the first priority is a crank cotter pin extractor. Anyone in the group have any favorites that are available and worth looking at?

I've been looking for a while for a good source for small parts and tools to supply my home bicycle mechanic habit. I usually try my LBS first, but they often don't have the obscure stuff (like cotter pins) that I need. This outfit has 5 sizes of cotter pins, stainless steel pedal washers, spoke nipple washers, Stronglight crank extractors, and the list goes on. They sell in small quantities and cater to home mechanics. They're also friendly over the phone if you need some advice.
