I don't think the new wave Constructeurs are trying to reinvent the wheel, but rather to keep it rolling in a world of mass-produced, non-ferrous bikes. I personally doubt that there is (or will be in the near future at least) a large market for constructeur bikes, but that's not the market Baylis, et al seem to be looking at anyway. Perhaps ten years down the road things will be different: maybe a diffuse boutique market of constructeur enthusiasts supporting a broad base of independent builders, or a resurgence of a mass constructeur market. I don't hold my breath for the latter (maybe my nose, though).
