I also have often wondered about this, could it have anything with to do with ships and the Starboard, Right side and Port, Leftside, the only offside I know is when the bloody ref puts his flag up. ALSO I NEED a steel Dunlop, Sturmey or some such rim, 40 hole, 27 1/14" to built a doulbe sided fixed hub into, for my 1950 Mercian Road Path, I also think the theme for the Cirque next year should be the,YEAR of the Road Path bikes!!! By the way,in the 1937-38 Claud Butler Catalouge a C.B Road Path model is shown with as they put it,CB Exclusive design dural purpose FORWARD opening quick release frame ends!!!! I do have these on my 1938 Road Path. have built in adjuster holders, So much for road path frames having track ends, Cheers, John Crump Oldbrit, Parker Co.USA
