I followed the email exchange about this subject that's very hard to catch in a few words ( :-) ); I couldn't help noticing that my Rossin RLX, which is hanging (safely) above my desk, right over the computer monitor, has it' s lugs painted 'Doug's way'. This is the link if you want to have a look: http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/album142/1988_Rossin_RLX_head_tube Now of course the Rossin is very much massproduced as opposed to the one-offs Doug is making, but the Rossin makes the point all the same. I'll let everyone make up their own mind whether this falls into the 'how beautiful' category, or the 'that's just gaudy' category. I will note two things: the paintwork is not done very artistically, rather by the shaky hand of an Italian old-age-pensioner it seems, and second, to my eye the shadow on the edge of the lug does make it stand out from the tube itself. The painted white lug seems to be 'floating'. That in itself i s interesting.
