I came across one of the two Mondial I've seen here in town that I previously mentioned. The M (in Mondial) on the downtube has the same design as the M on the fork crowns of Kim's bikes. It would appear that Kim's mystery bikes would be from the same company, from Milano.

Some googling turned up that the Cicli Mondial of Rossano Veneto (which is in the province of Vicenza and far from Milano) was started in 1949 (different than what is stated in the guide). I will give a call to Cicli Mondial in the next few days and see what they have to say.... Angel Garcia Verona, Italy

Kim has wondered about Mondial bikes and were they were made (see http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/akimbo1971/detail?.dir=5927&.dnm=64ad.jpg &.src=ph )*.*

*Lou Deeter's guide says:* *MONDIAL* : Italy . Cicli Mondial, Via Roma, 147 - 36028 ROSSANO VENETO(VI) tel. e fax (+39) 0424 540031. Since 1936.

I have seen 3 Mondial bikes, old city-type bikes, around Verona now. On two where I could read what it said on the headtube both said MILANO. The mystery continues.... I'll have to take a closer look next time at how the M is designed to see i f they are the same.
