well being English i don't care what they are called but the French 'Garde boue' are proper mudguards especially the fantastic ones made by Lefol, I am lucky enough to have a 650B pair fitted to my late 40's Semper tourer, they are 'Le Practique' dimpled/ hammered models complete with 'golfball' rear light , fixed with proper stays that you could raise the Titanic with...many of the English Bluemels et al are too thin and go all wobbly with age and use and never seem to follow the curve of the wheel, although i do have a pair of early? Bluemels ribbed section 'Lightweight' s fitted to my late 40's Webster of Chesterfield that are quite thick and actually follow the wheel curve.
