Thanks for the outing Peter, I have asked for a frame number and believe it is 1956/7 based on my Hopper catalogues. It is in remarkable condition so I have also requested a shipping cost back to Barton on Humber! Even the size is right, though it would probably finish up in the local Baysgarth Museum. Peter Brown has the Convincible version of this model with the centrally mounted sliding chainwheel that even has a mention in Dancing Chain. But that's another story!

If anyone still doubts that classic English lightweights c. late '40s-60 s are hard to beat for their names, colours, lining and especially transfers

(decals), I offer the following late 1950s Hopper "Vampire" (don't you lov e it?!) frameset on eBay:

Not my auction and sadly another too small English frame for me..
