Perhaps because while you can argue that all mixtes are cross-frames, not all cross-frames are mixtes?

That is a cool Web site, though.

But please allow me to ask you this: Isn't it enough of a problem with derailleur vs. changer, seat post vs. seat pin, seat tube vs. seat mast, fixed gear vs. fixed wheel, and so forth? :-D
