Subject: [CR]Paint Advice Needed

Hi-

I've been lurking on the list for a while, and I think it's time to de-lurk.

Here is my dilemma: I have a Dave Moulton Fuso with Croce components. It's a great bike, but the paint is bubbling up in spots (from rust, I'm certain), as well as showing rust in some spots. The bike came from a coastal region, so I expect that salt in the air accelerated the problem.

In any case, I am considering having the bike professionally painted. Am I going to diminish the value of the bike by doing so? Conversely, since Moulton offered essentially the same frame with nicer paint (for a lot more money) will painting the bike increase the value? Secondly, if I do paint it, would it be advisable to duplicate the original paint scheme or come up with something better?

I know this involves a number of intangibles, but I'd be very interested in the perspectives of those on the list.

Thanks in advance,
Rob Cohen
