And all of them are off-topic unless they were made prior to 1984!! End of discussion. A TIG-welded post-1983 Titanium frame can't ever be on-topic, by definition. Ditto recumbents, BMX bikes, Mountain bikes, C-Record parts, etc. There are, I'm sure, lists where one can go and discuss those, but it's not this one. Also, just to re-clarify, any post-1983 welded frame of any material is also off topic. To be a keeper of the flame, you have to use a flame! Way too much off-topic stuff being discussed here lately!!! Let's stick to the list rules please. Read them - they are quite clear IMO. If you are in doubt, ask Dale first before you post to the group. It's a very simple process. Greg "grumpy, not sneezy today" Parker Dexter, Michigan

Tom Ritchey produced TIG-welded frames by at least the mid-80's, I believe. I used to own a circa-'89 Road Logic (Tange steel tubing) TIG welded frame built specifically for racing. Clearly not on-topic, unless you count it under KOF. My guess is that he didn't do that welding himself, but I could be wrong.

I'm sure that's not the earliest example of steel TIG welding, but if it turns out to be close I'll do more research (no charge, of course!).

I would imagine that there are many aluminum frames that meet Kurt's criteria.

When was the first TIG welded (or other inert gas-arc welded) lightweight road racing frame built? Any on topic?
