Seeing Aldo's pic of the day inspired me to share a recently acquired addition to my collection. Most of us are familiar with the distinct look of the Brooklyn team jersey of the 70's. In fact, I have been hunting for an authentic one for nearly 15 years. Finally, the God's have smiled upon me. Not only Brooklyn, but Roger De Vlaeminck. What makes it all the better is the year: 1973. This was the first year RDV rode in the Brooklyn colors, also being the first year Brooklyn sponsored a pro team. Jersey is made by Vittoria Gianni. I never even knew this incarnation of the jersey existed, having only ever seen the version with the large white panel on the front and back of the jersey. The photo of RDV is from back cover of issue number 168 (March/April 1973) of Miroir du Cyclisme.
I'm looking forward to posting more picts of some really nice recent acquisitions in Europe (and subsequent diminution of my son's college fund) over the next few weeks.
