Somewhere out there, there is a REAL Merckx mixtie (ladies, step-thru, whatever). I was in the Gita warehouse sometime in '88 I think, and there was a mixtie-framed bike leaning against the wall. Looked just like a traditional Merckx frame of the era, except for the dropped top tube design. Full Campy C-Record, if I recall correctly. I was told that it was custom build for a woman that worked at Gita at the time. I'm sure it will pop up sooner or later, and will be a true collectable.
