Jerry makes a good point re. Peugeot sticking an all French component li st. And well beyond the PX-10 days. They were offering all French machines (even more so when they changed from Reynolds to Vitus tubing) into the early 1980s. And judging from that swell Peugeot book I've been savourin g, they advertised this "Tous Francaise" quality. And for good reason. Th e only non French item on the spec sheet for the PY-10 c. 1981 is, oddly, an SR Laprade seatpost... I have yet to sort out just what Simplex were

offering in an alloy, fluted seatpost during this period.

By the way, this Peugeot book has a useful (and hopefully accurate) table listing the components for the team's racing bikes over the years.

There was a delicious looking, minty Gitane "Super Corsa" on eBay recently . Just gorgeous. My size. But in the end, I passed: why buy a French mad e frame with all Italian bits on it? I couldn't find a ready answer to tha t one.

I'd be far more tempted to buy a late 1970s-early 80s Raleigh Ilkeston-built 753 frame and fit it out entirely with Simplex-Spidel-Stronglight components of the period. Now that would be t he best of both worlds!

Well to me anyway..
