Ray, Thanks for the tip, just looked in a friends copy of The Official Tour De France Centenial book. Went straight to 1932 and there is a wonderful shot of Andre Leducq on pp108, this was taken in 1932. There are quite a few shots with the front spearpoint fitted some of an earlier date mostly Alcyon riders by the look of them. Coming back to the UK I asked my old man "Cliff Smith Mersey Roads National 24 hour third place Cliff Smith East Midlands CC 464.78 and a Vet"! If you want a 12 hour man who always used a spearpoint
