Not only did she beat Mike McNamara and set the record, during the race when Beryl passed McNamara she slowed down to say hello and offered him a piece of licorice for a snack !
I remember reading this in the Cycling Weakly story from 1967. I'll try and dig it out and scan it for Aldo to put up for everyone to enjoy.
She was truly a "Force of Nature !" and left us much too soon.
