As Mitch mentioned, there's paint thickness... Also, butted
tubing often does not maintain a _perfectly_ constant diameter
for the entire length of a particular tube. One of the reasons
that Reynolds was so highly regarded in the past was that they
maintained better quality control in this aspect of the
manufacturing process.
