Without getting into the whole UPS vs. FedEx ground thing, I have found FedEx to be significantly cheaper every time I have compared. I have shipped two HEAVY bikes in standard bike boxes by FedEx ground in the last year and both were under $30. One just went from AZ to SF, CA but the othe r went to the east coast. Both were gaspipe with fenders, etc. I ship from a FedEx warehouse location, and every single time my online estimate has been right on the money... Good luck :^)
