Just got back from a 40 mile ride 55F, has been in the 14-15f range all week, bike felt sluggish?? maybe it was me, Oh well, I went to the local NAPA store and got a winter kit!! Coated windscreen(SHIELD) blades, Snow brush with ice scraper, Antifreeze,.Snow tires, (NOW HAVE FUN GUYS) where to attach the blades tried the brake cables, No way, could attach them to my helmet, use both hands to sweep back and forth, but in a snow storm that could be dicey, Could NOT find a frame fit snow brush ice scraper, I understand that Bluemels made one in the 50s?? got a photo in a Cycling of that bloke with the mudguards and saddle bag in a 100TT with one, maybe Hilary or Peter can find me one??
NOW to the Antifreeze, tried to put some in the bottom bracket couldnt get the right mix, maybe one of you Tech guys can come up with a formula, Tried the Campg (h)ubs, same problem, took the bars and stem off. poured some down the head tube, BUT I forgot to put my spearpoints on firsr, I knew there was a use for them!!! goook all over my John Bulls, WELL I did get the tires right. switched from 700x20 to 700X50 with knobly tread, had to spread the frame and forks a bit but works. anyone have a set or brake caliphers to go over 50 tires???. HO HO HO. Merry Xmas you all, Crumpy, Oldbrit/ Parker, (Boody cold,) Colorado, USA
