Subject: [CR]bike rack hints?

I decided it is time to get my bikes out of their boxes after my move to Seattle, but to do so I need to make a suitable rack. I am looking for hints, especially on a good spacing.

I don't want to hang them from the ceiling, so I plan to build a rack that will have verticles on either side of the rear wheel, and a bar about a foot ahead that stops the bike from rolling out. Kind of the classic rack that we had in front of the high school.

Has anyone built one like this (out of wood), that might have a picture they could email me? Also, a big question is how close I can space them. In my old place they were on exposed wall studs, so the spacing was 16" c-c, think I can get narrower?

In it will go a PX-10, a PR-10, an International, two Zeus', Orbit track bike, cannondale with vintage components, a peugeot 5 speed town bike, and eventaually a Le Champion, if you were wondering.

Thanks Dan Kasha Seattle, Wa
