I think these "second banana" frames are some of the most interesting collectables. There are two varieties really, production and custom builders. Schwinn Superiors, Ross Signatures by Kellogg or Redcay, Eisentraut Rainbows is that it?, Cinelli B's of course, Medici Camino del Real, Bruce Gordon had one etc. I know I don't have all the names right but many of these bikes are of great quality and often considerably rarer than a top model. Maybe the ultimate is a McLean because the top line was a Silk Hope. The line of thought was always running with frame builders- If I stopped the frills and spending so much time with the customers, maybe I could find a point where the returns are better.
