Yes, I have bid on that auction, and now that I know I can make it work on my Specialissima frame by shimming, I think I will increase my bid.

Interestingly, the two insert races on my Bianchi Gran Sport are the same thickness - as far as I can tell, they're the same part. So they may have gotten away from the two different thicknesses by 1964 (estimated year of my GS)

I sure hope my asking these questions isn't taken as anything like a criticism of Steven's auction description. Steven has proven over and over to be a square dealer and a reliable source of huge amounts of info about our hobby/passion.

Since my description of my Specialissima's headset is just one bike, you might want to consider it unconfirmed until we hear from other 60s Specialissima owners.

How about the "2 adjusting holes vs 4 adjusting holes" controversy? ;) I notice Steven's auction HS seems to have only two holes for adjusting - is this the case for all the V-groove headsets? That would be nice, if we could tell if it was a Campy headset by such a simple measure, no disassembly required.
