At CyclArt we see advantages in each system, which it why we offer both; and combinations of the two here.

In our view, powder coating is more chip resistant, less expensive and we can generally get it through the shop with less turn around time.

The wet paints are usually more beautiful, have a wider color palette, allow better filling of dings and rust pits, better rust protection, better masking and can be applied to frames that cannot be baked to powder coat temperatures. (Post CR time window technologies)

We often combine the two technologies with powder coat base colors followed by wet paint panels and clear coats.

While powder coating does not release smog causing VOCs into the air. I'm less impressed with it's overall evironmental advantage as it uses considerably more energy during baking.
