Subject: [CR]Macho Modolo speedy brakes

Hi all..Having just returned to civilization from the holiday, I will venture a VERY late response to this question. Set all Modolo calipers up with a LOT of travel so the levers have a lot of freeplay. You will have full lockup when the levers are almost touching the bars. This will give you acceptable braking leverage also from the hoods. The earlier Modolo sets (these in the higher grades had serial numbers on the calipers) had levers that were even further from the bars. I have traded away a number of these over the years and scronged later levers to use. The only rap against Modolo that I have to agree with is that the pads work too well and will chew up the rims in very short order when ridden in the wet where the water throws up a lot of fine debris, but they will always stop better that the NR/SR brakes of ther same vintage, IMHO..Pat Lay in Chicago
