Having worked at shops that sold both Raleighs and Schwinns during the 70s, I would have to give the chrome quality nod to Schwinn,,,,,hands down! That opinion also applies to other manufacturers from the same time period. To this day, I have cleaned up 1960s-1970s Schwinn chrome parts that look almost like brand new (now that applies to bikes that have been fairly well stored out of the elements).
