"As the bidding for the Pro has now reached 2,300 US dollars, do list members agree that I should suggest to the high bidders that they should invest in the books I am selling on eBay instead?"

Hmmm... I rather like the 15 kg of Meccano bits you're selling more.

No judgement here as to what folks are willing to fork over for our, what did we agree to call it, passion? But seriously, 1970s Holdsworth Pros h ave "it" in spades: frame geometry, nice simple, clean lugwork, that perfect and ever so '70s orange and "kingfisher blue", white lug lining and 10 inches of chrome on the rear triangle, all chrome fork, etc. Yum. Add to this Holdsworth's racing team association and that great kit, and yep.. . wouldn't take Freud long to explain why me and others want one bad. Mayb e not this bad and not with that dorky press-rivet (how could he?!) but I am getting this "I need to buy another British bike" feeling again here.. .
