Craig's post expresses my sentiment as well. There have been lots of opinions about the Rally, including Sheldon's, who we all look to for his wealth of wisdom on bikes and parts. But I've done some very long rides with a first generation Rally (I think it's first generation; Check the picture here on Dale's site) http://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA/McLean/Silkhope_m-dayton%20.htm and in my experience it shifts great. No problems whatsoever. However, I did have problems using aftermarket pulleys and have since switched back to the originals. Also, I'm using the der. on another bike with a 48/34 front for some hill riding.

Mike Dayton Raleigh (whose Campy Rally shifted flawlessly today -- shaving 15 minutes off the daily commute!)
