I rescued what I assumed was a gas pipe beater Gitane from a junk pile. You know, you never know when you might need those French parts. As a plus it had Nuovo Record derailleurs and a tired Brooks saddle. I thought the frame looked uninspired, stamped drop outs, etc. But when I wiped the crud off I found a decal that said custom made. The model is Grand Sport De Luxe and has the foil Gitane stickers and orange paint and looks vey 60's/70's ish. No tubing decal. I assume the non French parts are not original but the rear derailleur is a Patent 72 and the saddle has 66 date code. Is this the clunker I thought it was or is this a frame worth keeping?
