Mariposas are indeed built by Mike Barry. I've been to his shop in Toronto a couple of times now. He has a pile of autographed cards of his son in US Postal kit (perhaps he'll have some in the Discovery Channel livery soon). The younger Michael is married to Dede Demet, a former noted elite international rider and past Canadian national champion. At least some of her accomplishments came on Mariposa bikes Mike built for her, one of which is on display in his shop. In addition to his own bikes, Mike has at the shop a wonderful collection of classic bikes. Definitely a place to visit if you're in Toronto. I'll have that pleasure at least once more, when I go to collect the Mercian KOM and the 1974 Raleigh International on which Mike is repairing dents.

For trivia sake, I believe Mariposas are built by Mike Barry, the father of Mike Barry (Discovery Channel Pro Team rider). I know for sure little Mike raced on them on as a junior and early senior. A bit more info: http://www.bikespecialties.com/pelo.html
