After playing around with a bunch of 3-pin 116 BCD cranks and chainrings
it looks as if mixing and matching 116 BCD chainrings to 116 BCD crank arms shouldn't be a problem.
116 BCD arms are, theoritically, small enough to accept 116 BCD 36 tooth chainrings.
Unfortunately, it's not so easy. The hardware is different from crankset to crankset.
So my next question is:
Who has hardware to attach "modern" aluminum chainrings (which use standard chainring bolts) to old fashioned 3-pin cranksets?
