For all you San Remo owners, I have finally located a photocopy of Cycling January 20th 1960. Ernie Clements says 'Here at last is the 'San Remo' Falcon. The cycle that has taken me three years to prepare, design and develop; eighteen months to test and prove.' So we now know that it was introduced in 1960. Spec called for 21, 22, 23 and 14 inch frames with Nervex lugs and a Simplex Juy 60 derailleur, or Benelux or Campag as alternatives. Bars were Ambrosia Franco Belge with Mafac or Weinmann 999 brakes. Magistroni C/W and headset and Lyotard pedals Finish 'Neptune with chrome forks and head lugs. produced at the Coventry Eagle factory at Smethwick, Birmingham. Good Grief! 55 years ago and counting!
