Cliff has been in contact with the right man and it seems that my Claud Butler serial number 016955 is a Holdsworth /Claud Butler Sovereign, dating from around 1978/1979 (most likely). I'm trying to confirm the model and date as best I can at this stage. Does anyone know anything of this model at all? Reputation, value, collectability, and all of those interesting things? Much appreciated.

One of the purposes of the Claud Butler data base that Norman is compiling is to be able to figure out the date of construction of Claud Butler frames that were built by Holdsworth, since these numbers are not based on a month/year code. A very good Source(NORM) told a friend(who told me)in relation to his frame being a late 56 that the butler frames built by Holdsworth(post 56)did not use the Butler way of dating a frame---if I've gotten that wrong please correct me.What I haven't heard is if Holdsworth used a system that can be dated sam lingo,pleasanton tx
