Jimmy,

There is a certain amount of detective/guess work involved here. But my experience is that about 1960 would be about the earliest one might find a masi with Nervex pro lugs. I think by 1964 they were about done useing them; perhaps on account of so many people useing them back then. I haven't seen too many of them with Nervex Pro lugs; they are not that common. I've only seen one change hands. You might have better luck trying to get a Baylis Replica of such a bike. ;-) (Good luck with that!)

I have one that is confirmed to be a 1962 Masi Special with the Nervex Pro lugs (chromed headlugs) and the rare fork crown. It is 50cm c-t and was in the very first batch of Masis Peter Rich imported to Velo Sport in Berekley in 1962. It was traded to Albert Eisentraut for some frame fixtureing. Albert gave the bike to his wife-to-be Carol as a wedding gift in 1963 when they married. I bought it from Carol a few years ago; nearly unridden and pretty much the way it came from Masi in Milano. It's black with the cream/blue fade seat panel and cream head tube. It's a very special Special; it's not anywhere near my favorite riding bike, but it's a great bike to own and ride upon occassion.

I was just going thru Bob Hovey's Bike's of Steel cd's and seen a few masi's with nervex pro lugs. When did Masi start to use them and when did they stop? I've been a big fan of nervex lugged bikes during my time collecting lightweight bikes and think the masi's with them are very cool. Anybody have a 57cm Masi with nervex they want to part with?
