High there. I have always been a Luddite when it comes to modern stuff and have always used screw cupped bottom bracket ensembles. Having just acquired one of the splendid Raysport framesets with the cut-outs in the bottom bracket I was wondering what cartridge BB to fit to this frame as I am worried about the crud and road dirt penetrating the BB shell even with a liner fitted. I can remember Nadex making these units in the early 80's and I was wondering what else is available in other makes, oh and what axle width do I need for a 10 speed set up. Finally I rode the VCC 50 Ephgrave ride last weekend and felt a bit of a cheat as I rode a Rensch. Found out a few interesting facts about the marque from the real experts present. Les Ephgrave originally worked for Harry Spanner Rensch in the thirties. He then worked for Claud Butler's who's firm he left to start up his own business sometime in 1948. His brother Norman worked with him. I have always thought that his brother was Lou but they said his brother was Norman. Les died in 1969 of cancer. His brother eventually emigrated to Australia and he died there in 1980. regarding the differences between a No.1 and a Super No.1. The Super is the same lug pattern with cutouts as the picture of Mr.G.Chottiners black frame on the CR website clearly shows. They said the final frame was made sometime in 1968. Hope this proves useful. Best wishes Mick.

Thats all for now. Keep those wheels spinning, in your memories if not still on the road. Be lucky Mick Butler Huntingdon UK.
