Express was one of the old line German bicycle and wheel goods companies. They were not brought into this country very much, My dad and Heinz Linke probably were the only ones who had any. I have a few photos of Willi Kron and Karlheinz Weltrowski with their Express bikes that they brought over from Germany when they immigrated to the Chicago area and we all raced together. The Track bikes were quite good and were used by some of the best German track riders of the time. The road bikes were not that up to date and most of the German companies were somewhat behind the English, French, and Italian counterparts of the time. These German bikes are nice timeline pieces and in my opinion very nice to collect. There are not too many of these bikes around. Production was low, and only a few of the makers were imported, all with relatively small numbers, and in the '50's many of the companies stopped racing bike production or went out of business like so many did in this country also.
