I know we have discussed here the ways in which bike and frame-sized packages are now subjected to more size scrutiny by the newer oversize rules at UPS especially, and to a perhaps lesser extent by FedEx. What is causing me to wonder is that we, just in time for Christmas, received my wife's new cello case via UPS. Now granted it did not come from the North Pole, but sorta close-- Chicago. It was a 23 pound package and insured for $1000. It measured 56x22x16 inches. When I got to examining the shipping costs, I was astonished to see that the total cost was just $24.60. Do those classical music folks know something we don't?
