Pete Guerds wrote Just wondering if red Loctite wouldn't work to hold them tight? It would save the paint if that's a consideration. If I understand right the posts can only turn, not pull out? I don't know how loose the posts are, as the Loctite will fill only minor gaps.

With respect I consider his well intentioned comments somewhat misleading, from my own experience several years ago I discovered my lever mounts were found to be loose and one pulled right out. I had them spot welded at the time and with plenty of wet towelling wrapped around the close to the crimping area the paint damage was hardly noticeable and required very little touching in.

I agree these tubes do twist and I assure you they do, under severe braking stress tend to pull out and to consider any other form of repair none would suffice in these conditions. So my own personal view is under no circumstances go for anything other than spot welding by the professionals . Another tip , if anyone has a frame to be resprayed which has canterlever braze ons be sure to make this one of the jobs to be carried out. Certainly a good and safe investment for little financial cost!
