<< Off topic, so I apologize in advance.>>

Derek..

Perhaps you missed my message a while ago when I stated if someone says "I know this is off topic but...", that was grounds to get the boot off this list! I am not booting (this time) you but will take this occassion to indulge in a rant on this subject...

I am serious about limiting the Classic Rendezvous messages to on-topic.... Why? Here is a perfect example...Last week, we had Jocelyn Lovell from Canada join this list and almost immediately quit, due to the high volume of e-mail traffic. This guy was/is a legend, could have been a tremendous interesting contributor yet he was pushed away (at least partially) because people waste band width with frivolous stuff. Some folks just cannot adjust to 50 e-mails a day. Are all those 50 e-mails pertainent and informative? Probably 30-50% are redundent and unnecessary.

So, one last warning, if you finding youreslf in the act of sending an e-mail that is off topic or in questiojn, DON'T do it!

Thanks Dale

Off topic, so I apologize in advance.

I have a buddy in Chicago whose 16 year old son wants to get into riding. Can somebody suggest a good shop in the Chicagoland area with knowledgeable staff that will treat him well, and not fleece him? Jay can afford anything, so if he goes somewhere and is told his kid needs a $7K bike, he'll buy it. Kid's not at this level, and realistically needs a stock bike in the $1,500 range. Need a shop where they know what they're doing, and can service/upgrade/replace in the future as necessary. Any help would be welcome!

Thanks,
