If the bike is going to be ridden, buy Christophe steel; they won't break like alloy clips (Campagnolo, Galli, Christophe etc.). And they are a lot cheaper. I use size 42 shoes which is about a 9.5. I like the nose of the shoe up against the clip (a sprinter thing) so I use a medium clip with a washer between the clip and the pedal. Makes it a medium/large. The washer is the bit that comes on a presta valve clincher tube. For regular folks, a large is best.
