>From time to time we have delved into bicycling movies. Usually they are kind of touchy feely nice films...not so these. I just discovered an '86 film called Quicksilver about bike messengers and hoodlums. Some great riding sequences and Lawrence Fishburn looks to be a very strong rider in it. Now this is a Hollywood production with stunt men and I suspect more than a little slight of hand. How about some footage that is anything but... There is a fellow named Lucas Brunelle who has some incredibly scary footage of a couple NYC bike races. This stuff has to be seen to be believed. Lots of Scritching (I just found out this is a form of hitching a ride by a bicyclist on a motor vehicle) and tight, fast, unbelievable bike handling. The Drag Race NYC and Rumble through the Bronx is just scary stuff. How about Lucas getting up on the rail dividing traffic on a bridge during a bike race to pass the pack...and getting thoroughly roasted by the Ref! See it at http://www.digave.com/videos/ I looked long and hard for any sign of Johnny P. in these races...I'll bet he'd be a Holy Terror!
How about some real hairy hill climbing? Neat footage at http://www.russianhillroulette.com/ Nice video techniques, too. On the Brunelle sight if you don't have a high speed connection, you may have to pause frequently to let the buffering catch up with you. Tom Sanders Lansing, Mi
