Thanks for letting us look at the pics Peter,

Very nice looking frame. Am I right to assume the cantilever brakes are a retrofit?

PS. Lincolnshire must be good cycling country. Used to spend holidays there with rels who had a farm not far from Brigg. I still have a cousin in Gainsborough. Very nice countryside.

The previous owner of the frame had crudely removed the bosses from a previous canti set, although I don't know what they were. The Mafacs were the best choice I knew of for a decent tourer, so I had Mafac bosses brazed on, but I am not sure if they are period correct.

Lincolnshire is not very inviting for anything outside at the moment - we seem to have had several days of cloudy cold weather. You are right though, it is normally excellent cycling country, and good enough to attract the Veteran-Cycling Club here last year for their annual camp. I shall be going to Brigg on Friday to the Falcon factory. Four years ago they were assembling over 1,200 bikes a day there, but now it is less than a quarter of that, the remainder of their stock being bought in ready assembled from all over the world.
